Sumsion-Glasscock combine bags trophy

By DENNIS FULLER

AT EMERALD Golf Club last Saturday, the final 4BBB championship took place between Ken Sumsion and Peter Glasscock, playing Dean Shannon and Kameron Geeves.
Shannon and Geeves led for the entire round until the last putt on the 18th.
Then, for the first time, Sumsion and Glasscock hit the front to don the joint crown after a meritorious victory.
For those not able to cut the pace in the 4BBB event, after a couple of hiccups, the May monthly Medal was there for the taking.
Peter Stevens (13) showed the rest how to pin on a medal when he won with a net 67 to also head up the A Grade crew.
B Grade saw a count back take place to sort out the winner.
After careful scrutiny using a metric scrute, it was discovered that Barry Cook (18), back after a break, was the winner with 68 from an unlucky Ken Hill (14).
The only players to get near their handicaps were Sepp Krummenacher on 72 and Dennis Fuller 73 with the rest somewhere else.
Sumsion was nearest the pin on the Stockdale and Leggo fourth hole, Andrew Cutting the seventh, Ken Hill the 12th and Dennis Fuller managed the trick on the 13th and the pro pin 18th.
The ladies’ medal was won in a canter by Leanne Morison from and unlucky Petunia Jones in second place.
On Wednesday’s Opulently Fat Golf (OFG) a round of stableford was there to be won.
In the end it came down to a draw between Sepp Krummenacher (22) and Conrad Whitlock (19) who both came in with 41 points from Bobby Kennedy (16) on 36.
Next Saturday is a plain round of stableford for all to enjoy.
