Suspicious garbage fires probed
POLICE are investigating three fires in the Yarra Ranges, two that may have been deliberately lit.
Garbage bins were set on fire overnight on 1 October in Hill Road, Gruyere and garbage at the back of a factory in Canterbury Road, Kilsyth, around 6pm on 2 October.
Yarra Ranges CIU detective Sergeant Mark Smithwick said another fire at the Mount Lilydale Mercy College was also being investigated but police believed it may have been caused by Green Waste.

Spike in theft from cars
VISITORS to the 1000 Steps are again reminded to leave valuables at home or hide them from sight of would-be thieves.
Yarra Ranges CIU detective Sergeant Mark Smithwick said there had been numerous reports of thefts from cars in recent months, the latest on 23 September.
Prisoner interrogated over shooting
YARRA Ranges detectives have interviewed a prisoner at Loddon Prison last week over a non-fatal shooting in Mooroolbark in December 2012.
The 25-year-old inmate was spoken to in relation to attempting to pervert the course of justice.
