FERNTREE Gully residents have the opportunity to guide the design of a proposed residential development on the disused Norvel Road quarry site.
Community feedback on draft design principles released by quarry owner Robertson Industries last month will help to shape a broad design for any residential development of the site.
The draft principles cover access and traffic, lot layout and building design, landscape and the future of the bushland to the north of the quarry, infrastructure and facilities.
The design will form the basis of a rezoning application to council in mid-2008.
Quarry owner Peter Robertson said the draft principles were prepared with the project’s Community Reference Group (CRG), which includes community, environment and Knox Council representatives.
“Now we want to check with the broader community that these draft principles cover all the important aspects that should be considered in the design process,” he said.
Mr Robertson said a public forum would be held in April.
More information on the project is available from www.knox.vic.gov.au.
