THERE were some great results for the Monbulk Juniors on the weekend with the under-13s defeating Upwey in an exciting, high-scoring affair.
It was a real team performance in their last home-and-away match.
The win put them into fourth position on the ladder and will now play in a semi-final.
The under-17s also had a great win, thanks to runs from James Fenby and Josh Rak. Another win next Saturday in their last match will see them play finals also.
A great match from Brendan TeBoekhurst was not enough for the under-15s to get over the line. They play their last match on Wednesday night at Monbulk.
The two under-10 and two under-11 teams all play their last matches next Friday night.
Last Friday night also saw the final Milo in2Cricket session for these 100 kids. Many thanks to Damian Howard and all of his helpers for another fun and successful season of Milo cricket at Monbulk. We hope to see many of these kids playing junior cricket for Monbulk in the coming years.
In the seniors, the thirds continued on their winning way, securing top spot on the ladder with a strong win over Eildon Park.
Half-centuries to Matt Greggor and Paul Utting, and some great bowling by Rick Lamers and Jason Dekkers, did the job.
Five-wicket hauls to Aaron Powell (in the seniors) and Chris Defina (in the reserves) was not enough for their teams to beat Ferntree Gully.
Rod Turpin was again the fourths highest run scorer.
Senior presentation night will now be held on Friday 17 April, at Yarra Ranges Estate.
This change in date will hopefully allow more people to attend, especially the many under-17s and under-15s (and families) who are playing senior cricket.
The junior presentation afternoon is on Sunday 22 March, at the Logcabin, starting at 3.30pm.
