EMERALD Preschool is putting the finishing touches on preparations to celebrate its 60th anniversary next month.
As with so many historic institutions, there are countless incredible stories behind the scenes and this preschool is no different.
Therefore, preschool co-ordinators are seeking assistance from the community to help make it a memorable event, either through submitting photographs or coming forward to help identify people in old images.
Kate Drummond, from the preschool, said there was a rich history, with several long-serving staff members still living in the community.
The preschool has its origins in 1952, when a play group was formed at the Emerald Mechanics Institute Hall.
However, it was not until September 1955 that the Emerald Preschool first opened its doors, originally known as the Nellie Exley Pre-School Centre.
The late Mrs Nellie Exley instigated the forming of the preschool.
