EIGHT up-coming musicians will go head-to-head in the final of the Cardinia Shire’s 2008 Battle of the Bands.
The competition will be held at Pakenham Hall on the corner of John and Henry streets on Friday 27 June from 6.30pm.
The shire received 14 applications for the battle from a number of high calibre acts.
Youth services office Carrolyn Agius said the committee was impressed with the number of entries.
Ms Agius said the high level of applicants had led to a strong and lively debate over who should be the finalists.
“It should make for fierce competition on the night,” she said.
The committee chose eight finalist including The Thieving Gypsies, Head From Hottie, The Captives, Francis Dolarhyde, Intro/Outro, Black Ribbon, The Young Minds and Decembers Fallen.
The event is a fully supervised, drug, alcohol and smoke-free event and is open to young people who are 13 years old and over.
Tickets will be on sale at the door and cost $5 with soft drinks and snacks also available from the canteen.
For more information on the night call the shire’s youth services on 1300 787 624.
