EMERALD Golf Course was very heavy on Saturday with both greens and fairways being inundated with a lot of rain.
The course rating was set at 67 after play, so scoring was not a problem to some.
Wily old Bob Moulday (29) won on a count back from Mike Litchfield with a par score of +5. Moulday was obviously the leading C Grader as well and promises to continue this good form.
Mike Lichfield (8) is in the midst of a run of excellent form when his +5 handled all other A Graders. We knew he was playing well when the report came through that after the fifth hole he was three under par.
Rod Ward (15) was the best of a dismal group of B Graders when his -1 was good enough win.
Peter Stevens (10) and Anthony Smith (25) both came in with +3 and Ian Scott (29) carded a +2.
Andy Smith had a good day when he beat Ben Balfour in the first round of the match play championship and also took out the loot for the pro pin on the 18th.
Wednesday’s event was won by Ron Wilson (22) with a nett 65 from Moss Fuller (29) on 66. Noel Cook, from Wellington New Zealand, was there to win the bocce challenge after the round of golf.
Next Saturday will see golfers lining up to take each other on for the July monthly medal.
