HILLS basketball fans will get the chance to see the first of several pre-season NBL games in their own back yard.
In the first of three games in the foothills, The South Melbourne Dragons will take centre court at Kilsyth Basketball Stadium against the Perth Wildcats on Sunday 17 August.
The Dragons return to Kilsyth and Knox this month after a successful game against New Zealand last year in which a capacity crowd saw the Breakers victorious.
The Dragons have returned the NBL to the community and continue to offer opportunities for local associations.
After a disappointing 2007-08 season, the Dragons have rebuilt from the top starting with Australian Boomers coach Brian Goorjian.
After signing Goorjian, the team went on an extensive recruit mission, acquiring the signatures of Australian Boomer Mark Worthington, Boomers squad member Adam Gibson, Mika Vukona, Rhys Carter and explosive import Ebi Ere.
The new recruits join returning players including NBL star Joe Ingles, import Cortez Groves, SEABL star Nathan Hebert, big man Matt Burston and New Zealand international Nick Horvath.
In a double-header, the Dragons will also take on the Wildcats at Knox Basksetball Stadium on Tuesday 19 August.
The game will also see ex-Raider Brad Robbins back at Knox with the Wildcats for the first time since 2005.
In the final hills pre-season match, the Dragons will return to Kilsyth on Tuesday 2 September.
Tickets for these matches are now on sale and cost $12 for adults and $6 for children.
To make a booking call Kilsyth on 9728 1033 or Knox on 9762 1298.
