UPWEY Railway Station was the target of vandals last Tuesday (5 August).
Lights were smashed in the station’s underpass and on the platform at about 9.30pm, leaving glass strewn across the area.
Poster holders on the platform were also smashed.
The damage was discovered by commuters at the unmanned station the following morning.
Connex spokesman John Rees said the local manager reported ‘a fair bit of damage’.
“It was pretty disappointing,” Mr Rees said.
Mr Rees said he hoped CCTV footage would help to identify those responsible.
“It’s just senseless, mindless stuff,” he said.
“It doesn’t make people feel safe about using the station.”
The damage was repaired within days of the incident.
Mr Rees urged anyone with information on the vandalism to contact police.
Belgrave police Constable Steve Grix was disappointed with the attack.
“This anti-social behaviour is unacceptable as far as I’m concerned,” he said.
Belgrave police are investigating the incident.
