HILLS student Fenja Shaw is set to shake up the world of breakfast TV.
The Upper Ferntree Gully 22-year-old will co-host a one-hour live show on Channel 31.
Get Cereal will target people aged 12 to 25.
“I think it is a fantastic alternative to the over commercialised crud that is broadcast day in, day out,” Fenja said.
Fenja’s co-presenter is 20-year-old communications student Chris Dewberry.
“We’re real people trying to create interesting and relevant media for people our age,” Fenja said.
“We’re trying to make what we’d like to watch ourselves.”
She and Chris have filmed pilot episodes to familiarise themselves with the show and build their on-screen rapport.
She hopes to forge a television career.
“But it’s one of those industries where you can’t gauge where you’ll end up,” she said.
“I’m really keen to get across that there’s so much for young people to do,” she said.
Get Cereal will be broadcast throughout Melbourne and Geelong on community television station Channel 31 from 8 September.
Segments include sport, culture, news, fashion and relationships. Viewers can check out Get Cereal TV weekdays at 7.30am on Channel 31 from 8 September.
