One of the world’s top musical theatre exponents is now calling the hills home, after moving to Upper Ferntree Gully just months ago.
Accomplished singer Andrea Creighton’s move follows more than 10 years of touring around the globe, performing with some of the world’s biggest production companies, on some of the world’s biggest stages.
Her extensive resume features lead performances in much-loved classics, such as the role of Carlotta Guidicelli in ‘Phantom of the Opera’.
She has performed alongside the likes of Anthony Warlow and is a recipient of numerous top awards.
So why settle in the hills?
The New Zealand-born Creighton told the ‘Mail’ it was time to establish some roots and that she felt a deep connection to the region.
“I was first drawn to the area after a brief visit, and feeling lost and uninspired by the flat landscape of Melbourne,” she said.
“There’s just something about this region, there’s a very strong sense of community here … then there’s the beautiful hills and the landscapes.”
Though she purchased her property two years ago, she’s only been in the area for a few months but is quickly feeling at home.
Despite the hills move, theatre lovers needn’t worry, as she plans to continue hitting the stages and delighting audiences.
At present, she’s set to star in the role of Little Buttercup in the Gilbert and Sullivan comic opera, HMAS Pinafore, which will be shown at The Athenaeum and at Monash University’s Robert Blackwood Hall.
Even better for budding young singers, she has started up the Andrea Creighton Voice Studio.
