Test is on for tractors

WANDIN Silvan Field Days offers a weekend packed full of grunt with machines of all sizes on display.
Now in its 39th year, the event puts local horticultural and agricultural producers in the spotlight.
The two day event will feature more than 200 presenters and displays with the latest from the faming and horticultural industries on show.
This year will again feature exhibitors ranging from farm machinery and light industry equipment to motor vehicles and bikes.
Irrigation equipment, water tanks and the latest information on pest and weed control, fertilisers and chemicals will also be on display.
Demonstrations will also include a wide range of new equipment such as chain saws, ride-on mowers, retractable water sprayers and pruning techniques.
Farmers and local fruit producers can also learn more about the latest packaging, transportation and labelling information regarding fruit.
Those looking for a bit of grunt should not miss the chance to check out the motor vehicle and four wheel-drive displays and the second annual Ute Muster.
The Yarra Valley Preservation Society will again give visitors the chance to step back in time with its amazing range of restored machinery.
The weekend provides a fantastic day out during which youngsters get excited about testing out the latest tractors.
Those not looking for new machinery will also be kept busy in the general interest marquee.
It will feature a range of local crafts, produce, art work, clothing, and confectionary.
Blacksmithing and weaving demonstrations will also keep people entertained.
The field days will kick off on Friday 17 October from 8.30am to 5pm and will continue on Saturday from 8.30am to 4pm.
This weekend jam packed full of excitement is held just an hour’s drive from Melbourne at the Wandin East Recreation Reserve on the corner of Monbulk-Seville and Old Baker Roads.
