ENTRIES for the tenth annual Anthony and Travis Hall Driver Education Memorial Fund awards are now open.
Young hills drivers can apply for one of six car control training courses valued at $280 each.
Anthony, 15, and Travis Hall, 14, were killed in a road accident in Cockatoo in January 1995. Both teens were members of Upwey Junior Fire Brigade. Anthony was Junior Captain at the time.
The memorial fund established in their honour provides car control training courses to young people in the Dandenongs to prevent a similar tragedy.
The brothers were at a friend’s place in Cockatoo and decided go to the milk bar.
They planned to walk, but a friend offered to drive.
The car hit a tree at a bend. The Hall boys were killed instantly.
This year four courses will be offered to fire service members and two to local community members.
Entrants must be at least 18 years old and hold a probationary licence.
Winners will be selected by a ballot.
Applications which close on 31 October should be posted to Secretary, Upwey Fire Brigade, PO Box 1017 Upwey, Victoria 3158. Donations can also be forwarded to this address.
