PLAYTIME is a winner for Monbulk Primary School.
The school’s after care program has been nominated for a state award for getting kids away from the television and video games and out into the playground.
The Australian Sports Commission award recognises schools and after care programs which get kids active.
Monbulk’s after care program not only provides healthy snacks and afternoon teas but encourages kids to become more active. The school will go head-to-head for the Victorian title for the after-school care Super Site.
Program coordinator Kaye Gray said the kids were not only learning how to eat right but also about having compassion for others.
“Being able to host the program has been a fantastic experience for both staff and children,” she said. As part of the award, the school is in the running to win a trophy and a voucher for sports equipment. The award winners will be announced next month.
