IT WAS all fun and games at Mountain District Christian School in Monbulk last Friday, when the school celebrated its Year Twelve students’ last day of school.
The community was treated to a day “at the circus,” with the graduating class and staff members dressing up as circus performers.
Grateful for their education, the 15 Year Twelve students showered the Prep to Year Twelve school with light hearted fun and activities throughout the morning, thanking the school for walking the journey with them.
Principal, Chris ‘Ringmaster’ Prior was proud of the thoughtful effort by the students. “While outwardly acting as circus performers, it was encouraging to see the maturity, creativity and thoughtfulness of our 2008 Year 12 class on display today,” he said.
Parents, staff, students and others were greeted by circus characters, colourful decorations and fairy floss on their arrival at school.
The whole school gathered for a major assembly, where each class presented the graduates with different circus themed farewell gifts to encourage them with their exams.
The students reflected on their education at MDCS, sharing stories from camps, classes and fun with teachers. The community prayed for God’s blessing over the students as they prepare to sit their final exams that begin on 31 October.
The school watched on as the Year Twelve students then challenged the staff to the traditional MDCS volleyball match.
Teachers won the match which was followed by a smorgasbord lunch that was prepared for the students by their parents, making as much fuss as that first little lunchbox 13 years ago.
The day finished with the Year Twelve students walking the final corridor through a guard of honour made up of the entire school of 240 plus.
They were showered with hugs, tears, handshakes and good wishes from Prep to Year Eleven students, staff and their parents.
