ARIA winner at cafe

ARIA Award winning Zulya and The Children of the Underground will hit the Burrinja Café stage this Friday.
Vocalist Zulya Kamalova and her band have played at major venues and festivals in Europe, Russia, Tatarstan and Australia.
Russian-born Zulya moved to Australia in 1991.
She has been performing Russian and Tatar songs since she was just nine years old, and continues to share the unique sound.
Zulya first joined forces with The Children of the Underground in 2003.
The band is Anthony Schulz on accordion, Lucas Michailidis on electric guitar, double bassist Andrew Tanner and drummer Justin Marshall.
Schulz is one of the foremost accordion players in Australia.
Tanner is a versatile multi-instrumentalist and composer, performing and writing death metal, Latin, punk, cabaret, classical and jazz music. Michailidis received first prize in the international acoustic guitar competition Open Strings in 2001 in Germany.
Marshall graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2001 and has enjoyed success as a freelance percussionist, improviser, teacher and composer.
Zulya and The Children of the Underground will perform at Burrinja Café, 351 Glenfern Road, Upwey, on Friday 14 November at 8.30 pm. Tickets are $26 for adults and $24 concession.
