THREE Monbulk boys have been named heroes after helping a dying friend.
Diarmid McClelland, Jack Shoesmith and Ryan Grandcourt will be recognised today (Tuesday) for their brave actions in July.
They ran to get help when their close friend, Alex Webb, was injured in a BMX accident.
Alex was impaled on the handlebars of his bike and later bled to death.
But it was the quick thinking actions of the boys that is being awarded.
The boys will be presented a certificate today as part of this year’s Ambulance Victoria Community Hero Awards.
