YRA athletes receive cross country awards

The 2018 Yarra Ranges Athletics (YRA) cross country season came to a close on Saturday 11 August as we presented cross country awards to athletes from YRA, Croydon Little Athletics and Cockatoo Little Athletics. Presentations were held at Hedgend Maze in Healesville, where attendees made use of the marquee, barbecues and all the fun stuff there for an awesome day.

Congratulations went to all the participation award-winners.

Their consistent attendance was a delight to see and made the club and athletes stronger, with big numbers competing each weekend.

The club hopes to see them in the summer months, too.

Congratulations and thanks went to all the people who helped out on a regular basis including Alan Harris, Farlie Sykes, Brendan De Schwartz, Jayden Clarke, Ciara Willey, Dave Laven, Erika Bedyn, Jim an d Danni van Bemmell,Nigel and Renee Murden, Michael and Katie Clarke, Byran Ackerly. Joel Johnson, Jess Dux, Nicole Cannon, Simone Burger, Renee Horsley, Michael Willey and Rob Belli.

The “that’s what cross country is all about” award went to the very deserving and hard-working Johnson family.

Club champions were Ky Harris and Zoe Clarke and president awards went to Bailey Van Bert and Stephanie van Bemmel.

Mitchell McNaught, Emily Kinwell, Mischa Gopal, Graeme Woolridge, Rob Belli, Nicole Cannon and Renee Horsley won the PB awards.

A very big thank-you and well done went to the person who made it all happen each week, Graeme Woolridge.

It was another fantastic season of cross country enjoyed by all members of the club.

Mr Woolridge’s efforts throughout the cold, foggy, frosty winter months are what makes the club so great.

YRA’s little athletes now await the start of the summer track and field season in late September while its senior athletes travel to Anglesea on Saturday for the Victorian Ekiden Relay Championships.

The club welcomes all athletes of any age or ability.
