Cash boost for fire safety

NEW fire safety messages for the region will now be possible following a much-needed cash boost.
Electricity distributor, SP Aus-Net donated $3300 to CFA Region 13, which covers the Dandenongs.
The cash is the result of money earned on a donation made to the State Trustees of Australia Foundation in 1996.
SP Aus-Net spokeswoman Natasha Whalley said the CFA does such a great job and it was important to support such a group.
“The CFA does an amazing job every day to keep communities safe,” she said.
CFA operations manager Graeme Armstrong said the cash was both a generous and important contribution to the area.
He said the money would be used to purchase a mobile billboard to display community safety messages.
It will be used on total fire ban days to notify residents and remind them of the hazards of burning off on those days.
“The mobile nature of this billboard means it can be shared by all the brigades in Region 13, on a rotational basis or according to which areas need it most,” Mr Armstrong said.
