Burglary ring smashed

YARRA Ranges Tasking Unit (YRTU) has smashed a sporting goods burglary ring.
A joint operation with Healesville Police uncovered stolen goods from sporting clubs in the region.
Two men, a 26-year-old from Warburton and an 18-year-old Launching Place man were intercepted by police shortly after 5am last Thursday, 12 February.
YRTU Detective Senior Constable Mark Molloy said a search of the pair’s vehicle uncovered a large quantity of stolen goods.
He said a warrant was also executed on a house in Warburton, where further stolen items were recovered.
Det Sen Const Molloy said the goods were linked to a number of burglaries from sporting clubs in the Dandenongs and Yarra Valley regions.
He said alcohol, chips, chocolate and sporting equipment had been stolen from clubs in Olinda, Coldstream, Healesville, Yarra Glen and Launching Place.
The Warburton man has been remanded in custody to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court at a date to be set, while the other offender has been bailed to appear before the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 14 April.

BELGRAVE Police are calling for witnesses after three road safety flares were stolen.
The flares were stolen between 9.30pm and 10.30pm on Thursday 12 February from Alexander Road, Upwey.
Police were called to the scene of a downed powerline and were directing traffic when their flares were stolen.
