FOUR Monbulk mums are out to prove anything is possible.
Deb Rose, Wendy Vandenberg, Kelle Whitworth and Marlies Bakker are taking up the Oxfam Trail Walk Challenge next month.
They will join more than 700 teams who have signed up to walk or run 100 kilometres in 48 hours from Jells Park in Wheelers Hills through the Dandenongs to Wesburn Park.
The walk puts relationships to the test as teams of four battle it out to raise a minimum of $1000 for Oxfam Australia.
This group of lively mums decided to take up the challenge last year.
“We were coming home from netball when we saw people taking part … we decided we’d give it a go,” Ms Rose said.
Ms Rose said the race was not only supporting a great cause but was a personal and physical challenge.
She said the four had grown stronger and become even closer friends through the whole experience.
“We are all a lot fitter now and it’s given us something to do for ourselves,” she said.
“It’s not just physical but mental fitness you need to build … you have to push yourself.”
The group is holding a garage sale on Saturday, at 69 David Hill Road from 9am, to help raise cash for the race.
A free dress day will also be held on March 17 on St Patrick’s Day at Monbulk Primary School, with all the cash raised going to Oxfam Australia.
The Oxfam walk will be held from Friday 27 March to Sunday 29 March.
“We are looking forward to the challenge,” Ms Rose said.
