YARRA Ranges residents will get the chance to say ‘thank-you’ to community and emergency service groups next month.
A day of celebration is planned to honour those who help people affected by the Black Saturday fires.
Mayor Len Cox said the support shown by communities, businesses and individuals had been phenomenal.
“Words are hardly enough to express our sincere thanks and appreciation for your generosity and hard work,” he said.
“To show our gratitude, all individuals, emergency services and volunteers are invited to attend.”
The Thanks Mate Race Day will be held on Sunday 26 April at the Yarra Valley Racecourse in Armstrong Grove, Yarra Glen, from 11am to 5pm.
It will feature the Victoria Police show band and free children’s entertainment including roving clowns.
The day is also a Yarra Valley race meeting and the region’s food and wine will be on show.
Admission is free but donations are welcome.
Firefighter thanks are on track
