IN THE lead-up to Anzac Day, Monbulk RSL will host a talk on World War I artist, Will Dyson.
Historian and biographer Ross McMullin has agreed to share his knowledge on the artist.
Dyson was Australia’s first official war artist, writer and political cartoonist.
Twice wounded in battle, Dyson published a volume of his finest work, tilted Australia at War in 1918.
Monbulk RSL president Ted Beard said McMullin had a deep understanding of WWI and his address would give locals an insight into that era.
He said it was also a great way for residents to come along and see what the RSL has to offer.
Residents will also get the chance to see one of Dyson’s painting up close and personal at the RSL.
Mr Beard said the RSL Sub Branch had some amazing pieces of history lining its wall such as the painting.
Those interested in learning more about Dyson should not miss the talk, which is on Monday 20 April from 2pm at the Monbulk RSL Sub Branch, Main Street, Monbulk.
