FOR Kallista CFA, a new $50,000 strike-team truck came just in the nick of time.
The brigade received its new four-wheel drive vehicle in time for the February fires, using it as a command vehicle at Yarra Glen and Healesville.
Captain Ross Ralph said the brigade wouldn’t have been able to purchase the new truck without local support.
The brigade has been rattling tins and raising cash for the truck for the past few years.
“We are really thankful to the community for getting behind us,” he said.
“This new tuck made our work so much easier during the fires and drew a number of positive comments from other brigades who worked on it.”
Mr Ralph said his brigade had done a magnificent job during the devastating fires.
“Everyone, especially some of our younger members in particular showed real commitment,” he said.
