THREE generations have taken over the running of the Pakenham Upper General Store.
The Sherer family members, including John Sherer (grandpa), John Walsh (poppy), Matt Sherer (son), Wendy Sherer (daughter-in-law), Jess Sherer (granddaughter) and Stephanie Sherer (granddaughter) are putting their combined efforts into the once-thriving business, with the aim of providing excellence in both its merchandise and customer service.
A number of issues are being addressed by this enthusiastic team who want to make this Pakenham Upper landmark more than “just a general store”.
Since May this year, they have made many changes to improve as many aspects of the business as they can, with more to come.
Newly installed freezers are stocked with an excellent frozen grocery range and party and finger food at low prices.
Frozen foods include vegetables, chicken, fish and potato products, as well as pastry products to suit most needs.
With 20 years’ experience in frozen food at Dalmore Cold Stores, the Sherer family is well able to offer the same range of wholesale and clearance specials to customers at their revamped general store.
Fuel is now supplied by the more competitively priced United brand, and the store has had a facelift with new signs and paintwork to reflect the changes.
Wendy Sherer said that, even with the changes, all the general store amenities such as milk, bread and newspapers were still available with lots more basic items to come.
“We are maintaining our liquor licence and have a wide selection on offer,” she said.
“Our friendly staff, who live locally, have also remained. So, please call in to see all the improvements and check out the great frozen food specials.
“We are open 7.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday and 7.30am till 5pm Saturday.”
