BLUEJUICE vocalist Jake Stone promises a risky, high energy show at the Ferntree Gully Hotel this Saturday, 22 August.
Stone said the Sydney five-piece was looking forward to bringing its Broken Leg tour to the suburban venue.
“Those kinds of gigs are generally the best and most interesting,” he said.
Stone said the audience could expect plenty of dancing and booze.
“A really raucous loud show that feels like it’s about to go wrong,” he said.
“That’s sort of the fun of the band. We don’t plan most of it. It’s kind of happy accidents.”
Bluejuice describes its sound as an aggressive, party-oriented mix of rock, hip hop, electro and disco.
The band released its debut album, Problems, in 2007 and lead single Vitriol placed 11th in the Triple J Hottest 100.
Broken Leg is the first single from new album Head of the Hawk, due for release on 18 September.
The band recorded the release in Sydney with New York producer Chris Shaw, who has worked with the likes of Bob Dylan, Public Enemy and Weezer.
Stone said the band’s new songs improved on its previous offerings. He’s particularly proud of Broken Leg, which has received commercial radio airtime.
“I’m here to entertain people and write songs that connect with people,” he said.
He said the band would belt out a lot of new tunes and re-work older tracks on the Ferntree Gully stage.
“It’s a different kind of show for the band because it’s a bit more pop rather than just a full-on assault,” he said.
He said the band didn’t have a large production budget. “We just rely on being a quality band and the energy in the room,” he said.
Stone said he hoped the show would help the band build a following in the area ahead of its album tour later this year.
Local supports Midwinter and William Tell will join Bluejuice and lead support The Fearless Vampire Killers at Ferntree Gully Hotel, 1130 Burwood Highway, Ferntree Gully, from 7.30pm.
Tickets are $20 at the door.
