OLINDA’S very own masterchef is offering budding cooks the chance to extend their repertoire in the kitchen.
Wild Oak Restaurant’s Ben Higgs has travelled the globe teaching cooking classes in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Beijing and is now sharing his knowledge locally.
For the past 12 months he has run one of the best new cooking schools in the heart of the Dandenongs.
To celebrate the cooking school milestone there are a number of classes on offer from pasta making to barbecuing or perfecting knife skills in the kitchen. Ben said the school’s kitchen was designed to maximise the use of the central workplace for a hands-on experience.
Students can enjoy a higher level of contact with professional chef instructors.
Gift vouchers are also available from private cooking lessons for Christmas, work or hens parties.
The private lessons are also a great opportunity for a group of friends to get together and challenge themselves in the kitchen.
All students can also enjoy a complimentary glass of wine as they take in some of the handy hints the profession chefs have to offer.
Ben leads a team of young chefs who are passionate about highlighting their passion for food and wine.
The award winning chef will also return to Hong Kong and Korea next month to again fly the flag to promote Australian food and wine.
Those interested in signing up for one of Ben’s class can contact him at the Wild Oak Restaurant, 232 Ridge Road, Olinda, on 9751 2033.
