THE best in farming will be on show at the 40th annual Wandin-Silvan Field Days this weekend.
The event began in 1969 for horticultural and agricultural producers to directly showcase their latest products and services to Yarra Valley and Dandenong Ranges’ growers.
Event committee president Graham Parker said several original committee members, mostly orchardists, still remained integral to the event’s ongoing success.
“Some of their sons are on board now,” he said.
About 200 local, Victorian country and interstate agriculture, horticulture, farming and industry presenters will be on site at Wandin East Recreation Reserve this October 16 and 17.
Mr Parker said the event was ideal for hobby farmers but also offered general interest displays including arts and crafts and local produce.
Mr Parker said the third annual Ute Muster would ‘add a bit of colour’ to the event, with more than 60 utes, music and whip cracking.
Local primary schools and community groups provide catering to raise much-needed cash.
Visitors can follow signs to the ample free on-site parking.
Entry is $10 for adults, and free for children under 15.
