MACCLESFIELD Primary School’s $3 million building design has been named the best in the state.
The school’s designer Minx Architecture was awarded the best-design project under $3 million at a ceremony last Tuesday, 20 October.
Principal John Chiswell was thrilled by the news.
He said Macclesfield had been one of the first schools to design open communal learning spaces which lead to individual classrooms.
“We were very surprise but we always knew it was an innovative design,” Mr Chiswell said.
Monbulk MP James Merlino last week congratulated the school on the award.
He said the works included a new administrative wing as well as a multi-purpose hall and oval.
Stage two saw the construction of a new learning centre, resource centre and the refurbishment of the old school house.
“The redevelopment of Macclesfield Primary School is providing local students with a first-class learning facility and the award is proof the school’s design is helping our students achieve their best,” Mr Merlino said.
“This is a real feather and Macclesfield Primary School has been acknowledged as the best in the state in their category – it is a fantastic achievement.”
