Art into the mix

MOUNT Evelyn artist Rebecca Pool has created a vibrant art show for her home town.
A Medley of Mixed Media will be on display in the Mount Evelyn Exhibition Space until 27 January.
Last October, Ms Pool exhibited Japanese influenced works in the gallery and was looking forward to returning with new creations.
“This exhibition is a mixture of paintings, prints, photography and drawing that I have built up over recent years,” she said.
“There is no theme as such, thus the title Medley, which is a mingled and confused mix of ingredients.”
Ms Pool has always had a passion for art, especially pastel and acrylic painting.
It became a hobby when she finished high school and entered the workforce but realised it was art she wanted to pursue while studying accounting.
She studied for a diploma of art in visual art at Bendigo Regional Institute of TAFE in 2002 and 2003 with outstanding results.
“I learnt so much during these two years and gained enough self-confidence to explore further opportunities in art,” she said.
Ms Pool completed work experience at Bendigo Regional Art Gallery as part of her studies.
“I helped curate artists’ exhibitions and the Chinese Artifacts Exhibition – an incredible experience,” she said.
She took out the Best Exhibit title at Mont De Lancey’s 2006 Annual Art Show and has won prizes in painting, drawing and photography in regional art competitions.
She’s also run volunteer workshops with children at Maryborough Day Care Centre and the Mount Evelyn Bridgebuilders’ Butterfly Girls Retreat.
Mount Evelyn Exhibition Space is located in the area adjoining the library and Morrison on the Park Café in Wray Crescent.
Most works on display are for sale and can be collected immediately upon purchase or after the exhibition. Lay-by is also available.
