SILVAN MP Andrew Olexander has been forced into independent status after the Victorian Liberal Party expelled him last week.
At a special meeting of the party last Tuesday, Opposition Leader Robert Doyle said the reason he put forward a motion of expulsion was because Mr Olexander had put the party into disrepute.
An absolute majority of the Liberal team voted last week by secret ballot to expel Mr Olexander.
This comes after Mr Olexander recently labelled the party “homophobic” in a metropolitan newspaper and failed to turn up to Parliamentary sittings after losing pre-selection.
Mr Olexander did not respond to The Mail’s request for an interview.
