Hobby in train

FINDING good train sets, model locomotives and model railway accessories in a department store can quickly frustrate collectors and enthusiasts.
“Trains and model trains are one hobby that toy stores, department stores and large hobby stores have really missed the train on,” Train World owner Ian Comport said.
Shoppers who walk into the East Brighton store are surrounded by train sets, locomotives, passenger carriages, freight wagons, train accessories, books, magazines and everything they need to create their own world of trains.
The store also has a website with products, regularly updated price lists and details.
“Train World has thousands of items in stock as well as new shipments from overseas arriving every three to five weeks and locally supplied product arriving every day,” Mr Comport said.
Australian, American, British and local made products fill the shop from front to back and floor to ceiling.
“Walk in, take a look and you will be surprised with what really is available in this, the world’s greatest hobby,” Mr Comport said.
Famous names include Thomas the Tank Engine, Hogwart’s Express, the Orient Express, the Flying Scotsman, Hornby, Powerline Models, Atlas, Peco and many more.
Mail Order, special orders, purchases and advice are only a phone call, fax or email away or shoppers can post Train World a letter.
Train World accepts payment by EFTPOS, VISA card, Mastercard, AMEX, bank cheque, money order or direct deposit.
“See the Train World advert for details and have a train running round your table, room or house this year,” Mr Comport said.
Train World is located at 264 Hawthorn Road, East Brighton and can be contacted on 9596 3249.
