MOUNT Evelyn mums are being urged to hit the pavement with their toddlers in a bid to keep fit.
The pram wakers group is calling for more to join up.
Mother Kylie Cotter has taken over as the co-ordinator and is ramping up a campaign for more members.
The group meets every Wednesday and Friday morning with strollers in tow for a walk along the Warburton Trail.
But Ms Cotter said the group was about more than just keeping fit – it’s a great way for mums to get out of the house.
Ms Cotter said the group also enjoys a social event once every term. They have taken the chance to enjoy several pamper nights and dinners.
“It’s great. When I first had my daughter I couldn’t find any groups and it’s a great environment to get out of the house,” she said. “My daughter just loves seeing all the other kids.”
Pram walker Amber Simmons has been a part of the group for more than two and a half years and said it’s a fantastic way to interact with other mums in the area.
She said it was a great program for first-time mothers or those who have just given up work and have no social networks.
“It’s flexible if you can’t make it there is no pressure,” she said.
All mothers are welcome to join the group which meets at 9.15am on Wednesday and Fridays in front of the Morrison on the Park Café, Wray Crescent, Mount Evelyn.
Those interested in joining can contact Morrison House on 9736 1457 or send an email to mtevepramwalkers@hotmail.com.
