A MONTROSE driver narrowly missed a bus stop and power pole when his car spun out of control last Thursday 8 July and crashed through a fence.
An ambulance was called to the scene on Swansea Road, near Cambridge Road, about 7.40am.
Police said the car was travelling west along Swansea Road, towards Kilsyth, when it collided with a vehicle making a left turn from Belvedere Drive into Swansea Road.
The car spun out of control and narrowly avoided a power pole and bus stop as it crashed into the front fence of 64 Swansea Road, causing extensive damage.
It then careered across the street and came to a stop on the nature strip outside 65 Swansea Road.
The 41-year-old male driver was taken to Maroondah Hospital in a stable condition with pain in both hips.
Montrose CFA captain Craig Williamson was on the scene.
“He was very lucky to suffer only minor injuries,” he said.
“We’ve had a couple of accidents around here the last few days. It’s a timely reminder to take care on the roads.”
