KIDS can sing, move and shake their way to learning new skills at a Lilydale music program.
Sing, Move, Shake (SMS) is a community-based program which allows mothers, carers and grandparents to promote language development.
SMS has been operating for more than 18 months, attracting families from Mount Evelyn, Montrose, Lilydale and Kilsyth.
It evolved from a group of interested mothers with children aged up to three and is an affordable, weekly, fun session for children at similar developmental stages.
It’s becoming more popular for grandparents and carers, who find the program provides them with a social activity outside their home environment.
The 40-minute sessions involve music-based activities, including dance, movement, nursery rhymes, action songs, songs that introduce and promote foundation skills and exploring percussion instruments.
There are vacancies in Monday and Thursday classes starting at 10am for casual and regular members at St Martin’s Community Church, 113 Edinburgh Road, Lilydale.
Each session costs $5 per child aged six months or older. Children aged under six months attend free.
