A WORLD-renowned artist is showcasing his work at the Casey’s Civic Centre Art Space throughout February and March.
City of Casey is presenting Paint Your Own Canvas- an exhibition of digital photography by Melbourne-based artist Brett Ashby.
The title of the exhibition E reflects Mr Ashby’s photographic passage throughout Europe and Australia, and his time spent in New York and London.
Using his travel photographs, stamps, coins, ticket stubs and other memorabilia collected during his trips around the world, Mr Ashby builds a story through his work that depicts iconic imagery in a new and colourful way.
City of Casey mayor Shar Balmes said she hoped visitors to the civic centre would view the exhibition which presents familiar subjects and places in exciting new ways.
“Mr Ashby presents an interesting new perspective on local icons like Flinders Street Station, Melbourne trams and the AFL. His unique views on the Sydney Opera House, Barak Obama and Elvis Presley are also well worth a closer look,” Cr Balmes said.
The Civic Centre Art Space is located at the City of Casey Council Offices in Narre Warren, and is open Monday- Friday 8am until 6pm. Entry is free and many of the artworks on display are available for purchase.
The 2011 Art Space program brochure is available from the City of Casey website at www.casey.vic. gov.au/artspace.
