ENTRIES are open for the annual Gippsland Girls Cricket Carnival to be held on at the Traralgon West Sports Complex and Maryvale Reserve Morwell on 11, 12 and 13 April.
Regional cricket manager Rob Wood said he expected teams to come from Orbost, Lakes Entrance, Bairnsdale, Sale, Maffra, Traralgon, Central Gippsland, Warragul, Korumburra, Leongatha, Phillip Island and Wonthaggi as well as teams from other Victorian regional towns.
Wood said costs were kept to a minimum thanks to grants from various bodies, although some spending money would be required for “other” evening activities such as ten-pin bowling or the cinemas.
Training sessions have been arranged throughout the region prior to the carnival. Accommodation, bus transport, meals, evening activities were all available at subsidised prices.
All participants would be under supervision at all times, and the venue near Traralgon (near the Latrobe Regional Hospital) also offered a jumping pillow, human powered go-karts, mini-golf, heated pool and other activities.
He said the format may change slightly this year with the possible introduction of two divisions, a 17-and-under and 12-and-under.
“We have a large contingent of parents and coaches, many of whom have been attending this event for several seasons, to look after the girls. If any parent requires more information, contact me for an application form,” he said
