Flood road repairs to end soon

MOTORISTS along the Belgrave-Hallam Road can expect delays for the next couple of weeks as road works to repair last month’s flood damage continue.
The works at Narre Warren East involved twin culvert removal and replacement, creek bed protection works, earthworks, guard fence repairs and pavement works.
The southbound side of the road was damaged when the state was hit by heavy rain from the edge of Queensland’s cyclone Yasi at the beginning of February.
Since then vehicle flow has been controlled by temporary traffic lights.
The road accommodates about 5000-18,000 vehicles per day and the works have led to long delays for rush hour traffic.
Culvert and creek bed protection works were completed on Monday and VicRoads said the remainder of the work was scheduled to be complete by end of the month.
