LOCAL grassroots footy recently received a welcome boost with a new partnership between McDonald’s and the South East Junior Football League for the 2011 season.
McDonald’s restaurants in Melbourne’s outer South East, better known as the Casey Clan, have joined forces with the South East Juniors to foster the growth and development of junior community football in the City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey and Cardinia Shire. The South East Junior Football League consists of 24 clubs.
As the South East Junior’s Development Partner, the relationship will include a variety of activities and programs that will encourage the league’s 4700 junior participants to lead a healthier, balanced lifestyle and learn the spirit of sportsmanship.
The partnership will also encourage involvement in the McDonald’s Junior Football Clinic, support for events such as the Volunteer of the Year and Under 14’s competition and development and promotion for the School Work Sport Life initiative though a Managers Education Program.
McDonald’s Owners Operator David Fowler said through this partnership, McDonald’s would be able to work with the league to offer many young footballers the stepping stone to play footy on an elite sporting stage.
“South East Juniors is a community-minded junior football league with established links throughout the community, and reflects McDonald’s ethos of encouraging participation in sport and celebrating the sportsmanship attributes that are the most important to families.”
South East Juniors General Manager Shaun Connell said the league valued the McDonald’s Casey Clan as a strong community partner and looked forward to working with them closely though their development partnership and associated community initiatives.
