I WAS privileged to attend the opening of the Casey Fields Regional Athletics Centre on Saturday evening and the City of Casey, particularly its officers, are to be congratulated.
Unfortunately the weather was against us and the program didn’t proceed as scheduled, but as one former council officer who was closely associated with Casey Fields said, “Considering the adverse weather during construction, it is only right that it rains on the night”.
Full marks to the athletes who participated. Thank you to the three tiers of government for their contribution to the construction.
I am extremely proud of the art work.
As a person who likes to know what I am looking at, I was a member of the committee that chose the art and I love it – there is no explanation needed for anybody to know what it represents.
To all the residents of Casey who haven’t been to Casey Fields, could I please ask that you visit it during the next few months.
There is so much sport in which to participate and/or watch, and there is a wonderful leisure facility including the most fantastic children’s playground.
Importantly it isn’t finished yet – it is an ongoing project and it belongs to the residents of the city – there is something for everybody.

Cranbourne.
