Prins strikes again

THE Casey Comets have won back-to-back games for the first time this season … largely because of back-to-back hat-tricks from Nicola Prins.
After scoring three goals in Casey’s win over VCL, Prins bagged another triple on Sunday as she led her team to a 5-1 victory over Doncaster Rovers at Comets Stadium.
Playing as the central striker between Natalie Grubic and Taryn Brown, Prins enjoyed plenty of space to work with – and it only took 15 minutes before she opened her team’s account.
She chipped in for another two after half time before she made her way to the bench for a well-deserved break in the 65th minute.
Grubic and Melissa Atherton were the other recipients of a hard-working midfield, which was defensively superior for much of the match.
At no stage in the first half did Doncaster have a sustained possession in the Comets’ box, and it was only after 84 minutes that the visitors finally troubled the scorers.
“The three midfielders were the three best players on the park,” step-in coach Annick Amadee-Paul said.
“They won the ball every time it went to them.
“Even though they (Doncaster) were playing with five in the middle, our girls worked it really well.”
Amadee-Paul also believes her new look team is beginning to gel.
“We are still developing, but they are playing to our system,” she said.
“Although we still kept a few seniors on our list, most of our players are new. But they are starting to click together.”
Casey has the Easter weekend off, but will return to the pitch earlier than most when it takes on the emerging athlete program on Wednesday.
