GEMBROOK Primary School’s basketballers are gearing up for another bumper season after finishing third in the Hoop Time State Championship last year.
The Gembrook Tigers came third in the championships out of more than 2000 teams entered in the competition.
Hoop Time Championships are a statewide elimination series, which is run throughout the year and is sponsored by McDonald’s. Principal Mark Carver said the team dazzled their competition with excellent offence, defence, and teamwork to make it in to the preliminary finals.
Mr Carver said astute coaching from Sue Cracknell provided the Tigers with the necessary impetus to carry on to greater heights. He said the Tigers had a huge bench of supporters and it was great to see so many people supporting the team.
Mr Carver said the Tigers lost their preliminary final in a nail biter by one point, going down to the team who went on to win the grand final by eight points. He said the Tigers proved that Gembrook Primary School was a force to be reckoned with.
