ATHLETES and community members celebrated the opening of the Prospect Hill Reserve Pavilion in Narre Warren last week.
The $1.27million sporting facility includes four change rooms, a first aid room; umpires’ change room, canteen, internal and external storage rooms and public toilets.
City of Casey manager of Sport and Leisure Richard Amon said the pavilion was first identified in the Narre Warren and Environs Recreation Facilities Study undertaken in 2004.
It was followed by the Leisure Facilities and Development Plan (LFDP) which identified a range of proposed new or improved sporting, recreation and open space facilities and services that would be required by the whole Casey community into the future.
One of the user groups of the new facility is the Casey Panthers Junior Soccer Club, a family-oriented soccer club with junior girls and boys teams ranging from under 8s to under 15s.
“With the opening of the Prospect Hill Reserve Pavilion and a strong focus on developing young and enthusiastic players, the Casey Panthers Junior Soccer Club has a bright future ahead,” Mr Amon said.
Outgoing City of Casey mayor Shar Balmes said the City of Casey was committed to supporting local clubs and investing in the facilities the community needs to encourage greater participation in sport and help local clubs cater for the increased participation.
