Parkers end up even

HAMPTON Park Bowls Club had three wins and three losses this week, in the lead-up to the Christmas break.
Tuesday Pennant started off the week’s activities when the Division Two team travelled to Carrum, where it was comprehensively outplayed, losing by 11 shots.
Gail Wilcock, Jim Westwell, Helen Lambert and skipper Denise Eastick fought back for a draw while Geoff Ampt, Ann Westwell, Neville Hendrie and skipper Christine Hendrie lost their way early and could not make up the difference, going down by nine. Heather Naismith, Marion Battaglia, Ellen Smith and skipper Bob Naismith dropped a six at the wrong end of the game to go down by two shots.
Division Three had a very close two-shot win against Hampton. Dot Carr, Rhonda Diaper, Brian Diaper and skipper Alan Wilcock had the big 17-shot win to get us over the line while Geri Graafsma, Margaret Baker, Gwen Clough and skipper Grace Hogan were outplayed to lose by 15 shots. Keith Damon, June Damon, Mary Hose and skipper Ray Wood managed to force a draw.

Hampton Park played Mentone on a very slick Brighton green and came away with all the points. Ray Leggett, Bob Naismith, Geoff Ampt and skip Peter Hayden lead all the way to win by 10 shots while Ann Westwell, Keith Damon, Neville Hendrie and skip Denise Eastick slowly took control to win by five. Jim Westwell, Christine Hendrie, Ray Wood and skip Geoff Ladner hung on to win by 23 shots.

Division Three had only one winning rink in their 13-shot loss to Berwick. Zak Storm, Russell Stannard, Andrew Brandolin and skipper Graham Slight fell five shots short while Keith Reid, Christine Hendrie, Geoff Ladner and skipper Warwick Hardy could not quite bridge the gap, missing by three shots. Heather Naismith, Ian Bartlett, Lionel Williams and skipper Neville Hendrie slowly stretched their lead out to 14 shots while Geoff Ampt, Ellen Smith, Mark Paton and skipper Denise Eastick had one of those days, going down by 19 shots.
Division Five had to be content with a win on one rink in their game against Hampton at home. Ann Westwell, Keith Damon, Helen Lambert and skipper Peter Hayden got crunched by 23 shots while Vince Kovacic, Richard Pallett, Stan Hatch and skipper Larry Simpson missed by five shots. The team that didn’t hand their card in went down by two shots while Gerry Cox, Ken Cobden, Rob Woff and skipper Bob Naismith had an excellent 22-shot win.
Division Seven played at Cheltenham to score a very nice 12-shot win. Anne McKay, Bruce Pointon, Ray Leggett and skipper Fred McBrian stumbled at the end to go down by two shots. Rudy Oost, Brian Diaper, Marion Battaglia and skipper Ray Wood pulled away to win by five shots. Ian Kitt, Bill Webb, Gail Wilcock and skipper Alan Wilcock had a good 10-shot win while Les Unwin, Rhonda Diaper, Allan Unwin and skipper Ron Beverly got up by nine shots.
