In reality, the two are inseparable.
On 28 January, they will celebrate the diamond anniversary of the day they were married in a small, intimate service in Tecoma, in 1952.
The two have lived in the hills since, raising two sons – Ken Jr and Anthony – and spending time with their two grandchildren.
Speaking to the Mail a decade ago on the decade of his parents’ 50th anniversary, youngest son Anthony said “They’ve been inseparable.
“I don’t know what the secret is, they just clicked together and made a good match.”
But his father said the key was: “paying attention to each other and not dwelling on the small issues”.
In the late 1950s, the Hunts moved into three houses in three years but have been living at their Bayview Road address for the past 40 years.
Ken, a retired plumber, said: “We’re very content with the way we’re travelling right now but we’re a bit of a dying race.
“There aren’t too many couples around that have been together as long as us.”
Mr Hunt recently celebrated his 80th birthday at the Cuckoo in Olinda and he said his milestone with Jean, 78, was “more of an occasion for the family than it is for us.
“We’re very proud of both our boys and our grandkids. They’ve all done really well in the lives so far and we just hope our lives continue for a while yet.”
