Top driving in gear

YOUNG hills drivers have the chance to improve their road safety.
Applications for the 13th annual Anthony and Travis Hall Driver Education Memorial Fund level one defensive driving course allocation close on 10 August.
The fund’s committee will give free courses valued at $295 to six licensed drivers aged 18 to 21 who live in the Dandenongs.
Anthony, 15, and Travis, 13, Hall were killed in a road accident in Cockatoo in January 1995.
They were enthusiastic Upwey Junior Fire Brigade members and the sons of first Upwey Fire Brigade first lieutenant Peter and his wife Liz.
Their deaths shocked the community. The brigade administers the fund alongside other Upwey locals to perpetuate their memories in a way that benefits others in the hills.
Murcotts Driving Excellence donates two courses and provides the others at a reduced cost.
Dandenong Ranges Community Bank Group has provided administrative support for the past three years.
