THE Montrose Traders Group is encouraging fellow traders to join and make the town a better place.
The group, which is a subcommittee of the Montrose Township Group, was formed about six months ago and is still in its infancy stage with about six traders involved.
However, it the small group has big plans for the town and hopes to share them with other like-minded traders.
Montrose Meat Supply owner Rob Earney said the group was very keen on making the area better for traders and residents through pushing for better parking and better facilities.
“Ultimately, we would like to get involved in some township improvements in the commercial area, such as encourage removal of graffiti on commercial premises and work with shire to improve parking and the streetscape,” he said.
“We want to take on a planning role and, hopefully, an encouragement role to get all the stakeholders on board.”
The group meets on a bi-monthly basis and speaks to various people, including Yarra Ranges Council officers and landowners.
“We’re only taking small steps but we’ve had good interaction with the township group and we’ve got some very encouraging projects on the boil, partnering with the shire,” Mr Earney said.
The group is currently looking for expressions of interest from Montrose traders.
Anyone interested can contact Rob Earney on 0417 561 698 or Sue Jackson on 0409 932 109.
