Further casino death charge

A SECOND Crown Casino bouncer has been charged with manslaughter over a Ferntree Gully man’s death.
Anthony Dunning died in hospital four days after an altercation with security staff at the Southbank entertainment complex on 3 July last year.
Last Thursday 19 July the Supreme Court heard that Cameron Sanderson, 40, had been charged with killing Anthony Dunning, 40.
Colleague Matthew Lawson, 27, was earlier this month committed to stand trial for manslaughter during a three-week hearing at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that Mr Dunning was at the casino with friends Olivia Ferguson and Mathew Anderson when Lawson asked him to leave about 10.45pm because he was drunk.
Ms Ferguson said she slapped guard Quoc Tran on their way to the exit because she heard him say something insulting about Mr Dunning. Tran grabbed her around the neck and slung her to the floor.
Jacques Fucile and Nicholas Levchenko then threw Mr Anderson to the ground, leaving him with a broken nose and injured left arm.
Lawson crash-tackled Mr Dunning when he turned around to see what was happening to his friends, straddled him, and placed his arms around his head and neck.
Forensic pathologist Noel Woodford told the court he believed Mr Dunning suffered a cardiac arrest on the gaming floor and never regained consciousness.
Tran, 34, and Benjamin Vigo, 24, are facing assault charges over the incident. Fucile, 30, and Levchenko, 26, are charged with assaulting Mr Dunning’s friends and will face a separate trial.
Lawson, Sanderson, Vigo and Tran will face trial on 8 October. Levchenko and Fucile will face trial next year and will next appear in the Supreme Court for a directions hearing on 8 October. All six men have been granted bail.
