Sherbrooke Art Society celebrates successful exhibition

The Sherbrooke Art Society will host a closing ceremony for the Streeton Roberts and McCubbin Art Awards on Saturday 25 June, after a successful exhibition featuring 157 pieces from 72 artists.

Artwork from across Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales was displayed at the Sherbrooke Art Gallery, with Emerald local Wendy Lindrea winning the Arthur Streeton Award.

Her painting Secluded Jetty was sold on the opening weekend, with Ms Lindrea being awarded the $1000 prize.

Claude Ciccone won the Tom Roberts Award and the $1000 Prize for his portrait titled Yuri, and Glenn Hoyle won the Frederick McCubbin Award for his painting the Dancing Horse.

The closing ceremony will feature a talk on Tom Roberts and his home in Kallista called Talisman. Tickets are $15 and include morning tea. The ceremony will commence at 2pm at the Art Gallery, located at 62 Monbulk Road Belgrave.
