Ski what you can do

OLINDA Primary School have the slopes of Mt Buller in their sights as they raise money to attend the school’s annual snow sports camp.
School council president Heather Herbert said that with the help of generous sponsors such as the Mt Buller Ski Lift Company and the school’s fundraising efforts, 10 lucky students will hit the slopes in September.
Ms Herbert said the students will spend three days at Mt Buller and participate in a lesson each day and learn all about snow safety, caring for the fragile alpine environment and either skiing or snow boarding.
She said last year the students were also able to toboggan, stay in the alpine village and participate in obstacles races.
So far this year, Ms Herbert said the students fundraising for the camp has included selling raffle tickets, and making cookies for cake stalls.
Ms Herbert said students will continue fundraising over the next couple of months as they count the days until they take off for their snow camp on Monday, 4 September.
The school needs to raise more than $3,500 for the snow trip, and has raised $400 so far, but is now looking for sponsorship from local businesses.
